The Opening of our 2015 Seafood Throwdown Season!  Come and rejuvinate your senses as we celebrate your local resources with you! Enjoy this beautiful park & learn of the UNKNOWN Mystery Seafood directly from the fishermen who brings his catch to this event. The Chefs will be under the tent each creating an amazing dish using the Mystery Fish and Local Produce from the Armory Parks Farmers Market. Here is an insight to the players of this Seafood Throwdown: The Cookoff will be between Chef Joshua Riazi, Chef Educator at the Genesis Center, who also is the 2015 winner of the EdibleRhody Local Food Hero award; WOW! Chef Joshua has a degree in Culinary Nutrition from Johnson & Wales, he worked on the Childhood Obesity Team as the R&D Chef for Boston Children’s Hospital. His current work as the Chef Instructor at Genesis Center, where he
prepares unemployed Rhode Islanders to find work in the restaurant industry, he is the founder of Ripe Hospitality. How great it is to have him among us, sharing his appreciation of fresh seafood and local produce. He will be going head to head with Chef Anthony Glieco of Table Bistro, a farm fresh restaurant in Barrington, RI. Stay tuned for more to come about Chef Anthony. 

On board taking a front row seat as The Judges for the event are Peter Gobin from Mijos Tacos who was the previous champion of the Seafood Throwdown and Julius Kolawole of the African Alliance of RI. More judges are lining up. Stay tuned! Could be an audience member on the judges panel too.

The Dual Emcees: yes you will get a play by play on what the chefs are doing, what the fishermen are up against, and how we can make a difference to be healthier individuals & communities. Our 1st EmceeJohn Taraborelli of PechaKucha, Providence Media, and various other connections in your neighborhood will be returning as an Emcee. He has Emceed since the very first Seafood Throwdown at Armory Park, along with Emceeing a Seafood Throwdown at the Boston Local Food Festival, so get your listening ears turned up, he is a great communicator. Along with him, our 2nd EmceeJim Nellis from RI Food Fights, will be keeping you informed every step of the way. Stay tuned for more to come on Jim Nellis.
