On May 31, NAMA joined fishing families, community members, conservation advocates, and other allies in Downeast Maine for the first-ever For All the Fish gathering, a day dedicated to celebrating wild fisheries, clean water, and the communities that depend on them.
Hosted by Greenhorns and the Downeast Salmon Federation, the event brought together speakers from the Passamaquoddy Environmental Office, Global Salmon Farming Resistance, the Center for Food Safety, and other organizations to discuss river restoration, fish habitat recovery, Indigenous stewardship, and the growing movement to resist industrial salmon farming.

The day wrapped up with a community concert in Machias, where NAMA staff connected with attendees about the threats posed by industrial aquaculture, including the MARA Act, and our work to advance the Keep Finfish Free Act. One of the highlights was seeing several young people asked us how they could get involved in protecting wild fisheries and coastal communities. Their enthusiasm was encouraging — and a welcome reminder that the next generation is ready to help defend public waters!
