In a commentary for the Columbia Missourian, Tim Gibbons, executive director of the National Family Farm Coalition, argues that industrial offshore fish farming is not the economic lifeline for rural communities that agribusinesses claim.

He says the MARA Act would create a new market for soy and corn, but it would benefit large corporations, not independent family farmers. Instead, Gibbons calls for farm policies that strengthen fair markets, prevent corporate consolidation, and support thriving rural communities.
